How do our product links work?
Sport pages, quiz results and blog posts include starter gear sections. The store links in these sections are currently plain search links — we don't have an affiliate partnership with any store yet and earn no commission from them. The principles below will apply if a partnership starts.
There is no extra cost to you. The price is the same whether you buy through an affiliate link or directly from the store; the store pays the commission from its own share.
What decides the suggestions?
Equipment lists are derived from each sport's real starter needs — a swimsuit and goggles for swimming, a bow and arm guard for archery. Lists are not based on commission rates but on what a child really needs to start.
We don't recommend a specific brand or product. Links go to the store's search results page; you decide which product to choose. Brands do not pay to appear in the equipment lists; if a sponsored suggestion is ever shown, it will be clearly labelled "sponsored".
Does it affect our content?
No. Our assessments of whether a sport suits your child, age suggestions and cost estimates are independent of affiliate partnerships. We have no interest in understating equipment costs — on the contrary, we try to give monthly and equipment costs as realistically as possible.
